Forward Most smokers try to quit smoking again and again. In most cases, they fail. The habit is so embedded in their mind, smoking is such a pleasant activity, they can't resist. They don’t think about the long term damages, they enjoy the moment. Is there a way around this? How can we break this habit for good? There is a way, and it's a simple technique called self hypnosis. And in most smoking cessation programs it's simply not mentioned. Despite that, in my opinion, that's the reason most people fail. They neglect to work on the mental aspect of smoking cessation. I don't know whether you've heard of, or used self hypnosis before. Even if you have, it's best to first define what self hypnosis is, and then we would discuss how we can harness this powerful tool to our advantage and use it to get to our goal, smoking cessation in this case. So, what is self hypnosis? Self hypnosis is a process in which a person will get himself into a very relaxed state, which is very close to sleep, and in that state it's possible for that person to do some work on his own sub-conscious – plant new ideas, and change existing patterns. Though being quite similar to sleep, a person in a state of hypnosis is in fact wide awake. His judgment and criticism mechanisms are fully functional, so no damage can be caused from being in a state of self hypnosis. The benefit of being in that state is that you are wide awake on one hand, and very receptive to suggestions on the other hand. This makes it easy to plant new and desirable ideas and habits into your mind, as well as eliminate unwanted habits and behaviors that exist there now. This is exactly what we are going to do to make you stop smoking. We will use every technique possible to extract the smoking habit from your mind, and plant new habits instead! It this short book I will go through all the process needed to eliminate the smoking habit from your life for good. Just remember one thing – the key to success in life is by sticking to what has proven to work and repeat it over and over until it works for you. There is no point in starting a program and quitting it after a week because it hasn’t worked for you yet. You need to stick with the program, and sticking with it will make it work! It may take longer than you have anticipated, but eventually, the program works if you work the program. So just remember to stick with it. Don't expect result over night. It just won’t happen. Chapter 1 – Why Use Self Hypnosis? Self hypnosis has been given different names. It's also called visualization, affirmations, guided imagery, meditation, relaxation, auto-suggestion and more. These are basically different names to the same process. The process is all about becoming very relaxed and sleepy, and in that relaxed state you can start to make subliminal changes that ultimately affect your behavior and choices. This works so well because the brain doesn't know the difference between a real event and a "fake" image or description of the event. So it's easy for us to trick our brain into learning what we want it to learn, simply by making the right suggestions to it, creating a mental image of the results we want to achieve. If you really think about it, all your present behavior and habits were shaped by suggestion and repetition. So it should be very possible to change them by suggesting and repeating other forms of behavior, right? So what we will do here is, through relaxed self-hypnosis, enter our own subconscious mind every day, twice a day, and slowly but surely make new suggestions to it about our smoking habits. Over time the new ideas will grow and become stronger, while the old thinking and habits about smoking will become weaker and weaker, until they vanish. What we do here can be described as a slow and subtle change, but don't under- estimate it, as it does work, and will do wonders for you if you persist at it. People sometimes change in an instant because they had a very strong experience. This can be a near-death experience, the demise of a close person or other strong experiences. We don't need to be hit with a ton of bricks to change. We can do this in a
