In cases of advanced age, hormone replacement therapy (HRT) is becoming increasingly important both for women's health and for the doctors in our profession. In-depth understanding of HRT is needed. The organizers and editors intended the workshop to consist of six ses sions, as follows: 1. Overview of HRT 2. Basic aspects of steroid hormones 3. HRT and the brain 4. The influence of HRT on lipids and the cardiovascular system 5. HRT and bone 6. HRT - its effects and risks It was also intended that each session should be a combination of basic and clinical lectures. Without a basic understanding of sex steroid hormones in targets such as the reproductive organs, including the breast and uterus, and the brain, as well as non-targets (bone), possibilities for improving treatment would not emerge. This we firmly believe. The front-runners from at home and abroad in this field joined the workshop to provide the most advanced knowledge and state-of-the-art information, basic and clinical, regarding HRT.
