I praynot that thou shouldest take them outofthe world, butthat thou shouldestkeep them from the evil. They are not ofthe world, even as I am not ofthe world. Sanctify them through thy truth: thy wordis truth (John 17:14-17). Jesus' words were and are clear: without God's Word, His people cannot be sanctified- set apart from the world ethically, that is, clearlydistinguished from this perishingworld ofsin. God sanctifies people by His Word. He makes saintsofthem. Hegives them access to His sanctuary in prayer and worship. And He does this through His Word. The Bible, all sixty-six books ofthe Old and New Testaments, is the revealed and writtenWord ofGod. It is the only visible manifestation of perfection in man's midst. It is the only unchangeable Word in history. It is the one and only completely reliable
