WHO ARE WE? The Hispanic National Bar Association (INBA is the incorporated, non-profit, national association of 20,000 Hispanic attorneys, judges, law professors, and law students committed to promoting the goals and objectives of the Association. The IINBA has been the principal force behind the increased representation of Ilispanics in all sectors of the legal profession and has served as the legal voice for Hispanics for twenty years. Founded in California in 1972 as the La Raza National Lawyers Association, membership was primarily drawn from the west and southwestern parts of the country. The early years focused on inter- nal organization, legal education (through the Council on Legal Educa- tion Opportunity), judicial selection and civil rights issues. In 1980, its name was changed to the Hispanic National Bar Association to reflect the increasingly broad-based national membership. Since 1975, the IINBA has been conducting national conventions with educational seminars and social functions that have attracted thousands of Hispanics and others in the legal profession, as well as prominent speakers and guests from all sectors of American social, political and economic life. CONVENTION PROGRAM Enhance your practice skills by attending the HNBA's continuing legal education seminars to be offered at the conven- tion. The HNBA has pending applications with the states of Arizona, California, Colorado, Florida, Indiana, New Mexico, Pennsylvania, Texas and Virginia for CLE accreditation. The seminars are taught by top-rated, prominent faculty, private and government practitioners. This year, there are seminars of interest to non-attorneys as well, such as “Free Trade Agreements with Latin America”, “Public Funding of Education”, “Bias-Related Violence” and other seminars. Take a break from seminars and join us at the special reception and luncheons that we have planned for you. Make new friends and enjoy the company of old ones at the exciting social activities scheduled, such as our “Mexican Fiesta”. Stop by our hospitality booth to obtain mementos of the convention or pose for our photographer. Watch the renown Repertorio Espanol's play “La Botanica” on Friday night. Let your voice be heard at the special General Session on Friday and dance to the rhythms of Puerto Rico, Cuba and the Dominican Republic at Caribbean Night featuring a very popular Salsa band.
