Best Friends. A simple arrangement. Except nothing will ever be the same...
Jake needs a wife. Or, at least a pretend one. A stable, safe relationship will be the thing that tips his hand in the fight for custody of his daughter. Except, Jake doesn't do relationships. He's a one-and-done sort of guy. But that's fine because he'll just ask his best friend Claire to step in and pretend to play house. Easy and done. What could go wrong?
Claire has been in love with Jake since he came to her defense in the first grade. Her knight is a Star Wars t-shirt. The problem is, he's never seen her as anything more than his best friend, the girl next door. She knows that going along with his ridiculous plan is dangerous, but she's never been able to say no to him. Besides, she loves his daughter, even if looking at her sometimes breaks her heart. She just needs to keep her bruised heart safe, and everything will be fine.
