Estimate : ` 1,500 - 2,000 The 'Ujjain symbol with crescent' was a Satavahana dynastic emblem. It was employed on early issues in the Eran-Vidisha region after Satavahana conquest. Inscribed PMCs followed these issues. 370. Satavahanas - Vasithiputa Siri Chhimuka (c. 150 BC), 'Elephant' type coin from the Newasa-Paithan region in arsenical copper alloy, 5.23g. Obv: elephant with trunk upraised moving to right, four circled 'Ujjain' symbol above its back. Brahmi legend ‘...(no) Va(si)...Si (ri) Chhi pra...' Rev: tree-in-railing. Very Fine +, Rare. Realised : ` ......................... Estimate : ` 1,500 - 2,000 It is noteworthy that one this coin the name fo the ruler appears to be inscribed 'Chhipraka' instead of 'Chhimuka'. 'Kshipraka', the Sanskrit form of 'Chhipraka' indeed occurs as one of the variations of 'Simuka'/'Chhimuka', the name of the first king of the Satavahana dynasty in the Puranic accounts of the lineage. The inscription on the coin is important as a corroboration of the Puranic mention. 371.
