Rio Yokota (Tokyo Institute of Technology) and Michele Weiland (The University of Edinburgh) joined the team as proceedings chair anddeputy chair, respectively, and managedthe organization ofthe proceedings for the workshops. The 23 workshops at ISC High Performance 2018 provided a focused, in-depth platformwithpresentations, discussion, andinteractionontopicsrelatedtoallaspectsof research, development, and application of large-scale, high-performance experimental and commercial systems. Workshop topics included HPC computer architecture and hardware; programming models, system software, and applications; solutions for heterogeneity, reliability, power efficiency of systems; virtualization and containerized environments; big data and cloud computing; artificial intelligence; as well as interna- tionalcollaborations. Workshopswereselectedwith apeer-reviewprocessbyaninter- nationalcommitteeof16expertsinthefieldfromEurope,theUnitedStates,andAsia. Since 2016, ISC High Performance has provided a platform for workshops with theirowncallforpapersandindividualpeer-review processthroughanearlydeadline in December 2017. In all, 13 workshop proposals were submitted before this deadline from organizers all over the world; the committee accepted 21 workshops (eight full-day and two half-day workshops) after a rigorous review process in which each proposalreceived three reviews. Additionally, each reviewer was given the possibility to discuss all the submissions. Workshops without a call for papers were invited to submit their proposals in February 2018. For this second deadline, 14 workshop pro- posals were submitted and 13 workshops (three full-day and ten half-day day work- shops)wereacceptedbythecommittee withthesamerigorouspeer-review processas for workshops with proceedings. The23workshopswereheldonThursday,June28,2018,attheFrankfurtMarriott Hotel with 489 attendees in the morning and 419 in the afternoon, about 170 pre- sentations, and over a dozen panel discussions. The workshop proceedings volume collectsalltheacceptedpapersoftheworkshopsfromthecallforpapers.Eachchapter of the book contains the accepted and revised papers for one of the workshops. For someworkshops, anadditionalprefacedescribesthereviewprocessforthatworkshop and provides a summary of the outcome.
