The entire world and ancient coin team is thrilled to present our first Platinum Night Session in New York in addition to the three Signature sessions included in this catalog. Every year at the NYINC, Heritage has the privilege of offering numismatic treasures from hundreds of consignors. Though we receive many wonderful coins for auction, there are always a few collections that stand out among the rest. Our 2015 NYINC auction has an amazing ten featured collections, including: • The Empire Collection of World Gold – carefully assembled over many years, with special attention to quality, the Empire Collector concentrated on gold crowns of Europe and the New World. Over 80 carefully selected highlights are included in this offering and present a fantastic opportunity for collectors of world gold type coins. • The Santa Catarina Collection of Brazilian Gold – a small group of 30 coins of the highest quality! The highlight of this offering is one of the greatest rarities in Brazilian numismatics: the 6400 Reis of 1732 from the Bahia mint, the finest of only three known. In addition, it contains an incredibly elusive 12800 Reis of 1731 from the Rio mint of the “Italic” shield type, as well as six specimens of 3200 Reis, the rarest denomination in all Brazilian numismatics. • The California Collection of Ancient Greek – the 130 coins assembled in this collection show a most refined connoisseurship of the Hellenic world. Each coin in the California Collection was chosen for exquisite style, depth of strike, and superb metal quality with a particular focus on the superlative coins of Magna Graecia in the High Classical period, the coinage of Mainland Greece circa 550-200 BC, and the astonishing portraiture of the Hellenistic Kingdoms. • The Law Collection of British and World – once again we have the privilege of offering an additional selection of over 150 coins from the magnificent Law Collection. This grouping includes outstanding proof coinage of the British Empire in addition to great selections of Latin America coins spanning over 10 countries. The Law Collector had an incredible eye and knack for superior coins and it is all clearly reflected in our NYINC catalogs. In addition to our featured collections, Heritage partnered with over 200 other consignors to create the numismatic journey from Albania to Zanzibar in the following pages and in our adjacent Platinum Night catalog. You will see rare proof sets of Australia, an incredible British offering that includes a PR64 “Una and the Lion” 5 Pounds, nearly two hundred amazing Russian rarities, a unique 6 Pence of South Africa in gold, the Korean 20 Won in gold from the Eliasberg collection, an aureus of Lucius Verus in superb Gem Mint State condition, and much more. Please take good time to also peruse carefully our Platinum Night catalog which includes over 450 of the greatest numismatic rarities that will be offered in 2015. The Heritage World and Ancient coin team will have a fantastic stay in the Big Apple this January and we hope we can see you in person at the Waldorf-Astoria Hotel or at our offices at 445 Park Avenue. If we don’t see you there, we will certainly see you online at HA.com/3037. Our January sales will conclude on the 14th with our internet sessions, which feature a record 3900+ lots at HA.com/3038.
