Terry, BSc (Hons) ARCS MSc PhD (Reader in Plant Science at Cranfield University, UK) received his BSc from Imperial College, London, and both his MSc and PhD from Cranfield University. Dr Terry established the Plant Science Laboratory at Cranfield University in 2001, which is now one of the largest groups dedicated to research, consultancy and education in postharvest science of fresh produce in the EU. As well as being Head of the Plant Science Laboratory, Dr Terry currently heads Food Security and Environmental Health at Cranfield University, with responsibility over all staff and students in the department. ix Acknowledgements The Editor is grateful for the contributions from all authors.
