The emphasis is on quantitative methods for the analysis, designandmanagementofhealth-caresystems. The participants are faculties, students, medical doctors and chief nurses from several disciplines. The main objective is fostering the collaboration between operationsmanagementscientistsandclinicians. Scientists and practitioners have the opportunity to discuss about new ideas, methodsandtechnologiesforimprovingtheoperationofhealth-careorganizations during a 3-day single session. The event emphasizes the research in the field of health-caresystemsengineeringdevelopedinclosecollaborationwithclinicians. This second conference took place in Lyon, France, between 27 and 29 May 2015intheSaint-Joseph/St-LucHospital.Alimitednumberofpaperswereselected under a double-blind review process. I would like to thank all of the Scientific Committee and the anonymous reviewers for the selection of the works. In total, 19papersareincludedintheconferenceproceedings.Eachpaperwaspresentedat theconferencetoallparticipantsanddiscussedwithexpertsfromtheclinicalfield. I would like to express my deep gratitude to our invited speakers, Prof. Sally Brailsfordforagreeingtoaddresstheconferenceon“ModelingHumanBehaviorin HealthcareSystems:IsItPossibleandWhyShouldWeDoIt?”andProf.NicoVan- daelewiththetopicof“TheVaccineSupplyChainDecathlon:TheReconciliation of Technology,Economyand Humanity”.Their contributionsare perfectlyin line with the objectiveof the conferencewhich tries to initiate collaborationsbetween scientistsandclinicians. I would like to thank all the speakers, authors and discussants of the papers togetherwiththeiraccompanyingpersonsfortheirparticipationinHCSE2015.
