TO HARYANA GOVT. GAZ., FEB. 11, 2020 (MAGH. 22, 1941 SAKA) 21 REVIEW OF ANNUAL ADMINISTRATIVE REPORT OF HORTICULTURE DEPARTMENT, HARYANA FOR THE YEAR 2017-2018. The 8th January, 2020 No. 1782-Agri.II (5)-2019/14192.— Horticultural crops are high value crops providing much needed nutritious food to human beings.These commodities have great potential for domatic marketing & export as fresh and value added products. Horticulture has gained importance as a separate, viable economic activity. With the sustained efforts of the Department, considerable progress has been made in fruits, vegetables, flowers and mushroom cultivation. 1. Area and Production of Horticulture Crops Horticulture crops cover 5.28 lakh hectare area which is 8.17 % of the gross cropped area of the State. Production of horticultural crops in the State was 80.85 lakh MT during the year 2017-18. (i) Fruit Cultivation :Total area under fruit is 64021 hectare in the year 2017-18 with production of 7.93 lakh MT. (ii) Vegetable Cultivation :Total area under Vegetables is 551665 hectare in 2017-18 with production of 71.40 lakh MT. (iii) Spices: Total area under Spices is 11928 hectare in 2017-18 with production of 0.80 lakh MT. (iv) Medicinal and Aromatic Plants:Total area under Aromatic Plants is 463 hectare in 2017-18 with production of 0.03 lakh MT. (v) Flower Cultivation Total area under Flower Cultivation is 5540 hectare in 2017-18 with production of 0.57 lakh MT. (vi) Mushroom :In the year 2017-18, a production of 10957 MT of mushroom was achieved. 2. National Horticulture Mission: National Horticulture Mission Sharing (60:40) Central Government sponsored scheme was implemented in 18 districts in the state of Haryana during the year 2017-18. Total financial provision was kept of Rs. 13925.91 lakhs. Various components covered under this, such as area expansion under fruits, establishment of big and small modern nurseries, Integrated Pest Harvest Management under flowers, spices, medicinal and aromatic production, rejuvenation of old plants, training of farmers, production of vegetable seeds and mushroom etc. During the year Rs. 10429.12 lakhs was spent. 3. Poly House Cultivation For raising disease free nursery, off - season and pesticide residue free vegetables, green house technology can play a vital role. Up to March, 2018 total area 757.81 ha. has been covered. In the year 2017-18, 78.88 hectare Poly houses were constructed and expenditure of 2053.43 Lakh was incurred. 4. Micro-Irrigation Under Micro Irrigation Scheme, Per Drop More Crop up to March, 2018 an area of 83644 hectare has been covered. During the year 2017-18 an area of 4538 hectare has been covered under horticulture crops with the expenditure of 2387.86 Lakh. 5. Crop Cluster Development Programme (CCDP): New scheme namely Crop cluster Development program has been launched on 21.02.2018 with budget outlet of Rs. 510.36 crore for a period of three year.Under this program in each cluster marketing infrastructure and post- harvest management facilities like pack house, primary processing centre, grading, sorting machine , storage facilities, refer vans, input and quality control facility shall be created to have forward and backward linkage for effective marketing of horticulture produce. The projects under the scheme is under establishment . 6. Formation of Farmers Producer Organization (FPOs): To promote collective marketing of horticulture produce, Formation of Farmers Producer Organization (FPOs) has formed 75 Farmers Producer Organization having 28000 no. of farmers to benefit them directly under different Govt. Estabalishment of Center of Excellence: These centres have been established with the objective of demonstration of latest technologies available nationally and internationally. New cultivars are being demonstrated for adoption in the region and farmers are being regulary given exposure and trained over here. Futher, quality fruit planting material and soilless vegetable seedlings are being provided to the farmers for better adopting and higher production and there by increase in their income. During the year 2017-18, Department has established and inaugurated following 3 centres of excellence for demonstration of latest technologies. (1) Potato Technology Centre, 4.25 Crore 06.04.2016 Shamgarh (Karnal) (2) Centre of Sub Tropical Fruits, 9.10 Crore 06.04.2016 Ladwa (Kurukshetra) (3) Centre of Excellence for Bee 10.50 Crore 10.11.2017 (IBDC Ramnagar, Kurukshetra) 8. Bhavantar Bharpayee Yojana (BBY): Bhavantar Bharpayee Yojana (BBY) for assuring minimum price for vegetables through payment of price differential to the farmers. Govt. is assuring the risk of the farmers by providing protected price so that the minimum income can be granted. (1) The government has launched BBY first of its kind scheme on 30.12.2017 which is effective from 01.01.2018 for price compensation for horticultural crops. In the first phase four crops- Tomato, Onion, Potato and Cauliflower are considered for incentive during low wholesale prices of produce. (2) Under BBY Schme protected price for Potato and Tomato is Rs. 400/- per qtls. and for Onion and Cauliflower it is Rs. 500/- per qtls. (3) During 2017-18, total 4435 no. of farmers of Tomato & Onion with area of 10790 acres was registered 9. Establishment of Horticulture University: To provide quality education linked with enhancing learning outcomes, the work of Maharana Pratap Horticultural University has been started at Karnal along with establishment of three Regional Research Stations in Chansoli (Ambala), B.Raiya (Jhajjar) & Badhana (Jind). For this an amount of Rs. 52.00 crore has been released out of total budget outlay of Rs. 486.59 crore. The Post Graduate Courses for students has also been started from academic year 2017-18.
