REVIEW OF ANNUAL ADMINISTRATIVE REPORT OF SCIENCE AND TECHNOLOGY
DEPARTMENT FOR THE YEAR 2018-19
The 8th January, 2020
No. S&T/AAR/2018-19/2020/29.—
(i) The Science and Technology department incurred an expenditure of Rs. 137.21273 lacs under recurring
budget and Rs. 1910.07287 lacs under nonrecurring budget for implementing its activities.
(ii) The financial assistance of Rs. 1,53,700/– was provided to six scientists/research scholars of the state
for presenting their paper in the international conference/seminar held abroad.
(iii) The Department organized science quiz competitions for school students at district, zonal and state
level.
(iv) The Department also organised science quiz competition for college students at district, zonal and state
level.
(v) Science essay writing competitions for school and college students were organised.
(vi) Science conclaves were organized one each at Guru Jhambheshwar University of Science and
Technology, Hisar and NIT, Kurukshetra. In these events eminent scientists were invited to interact
with the students.
(vii) An amount of Rs. 39,37,185/- was released to the universities under HSCST fellowship programme for
onwards disbursement to the Ph. D. students.
(viii) 50 students of 2-Yr. M.Sc. and 150 students of 3-Yr. B.Sc./4-Yr. B.S./5-Yr. Integrated M.Sc./M.S. were
selected for scholarships under promotion of Science Education (POSE) scholarship scheme. Besides,
the scholarships were renewed as per eligibility of the students selected during the previous years.
(ix) Haryana Vigyan Ratna and Yuva Vigyan Ratna Awards were conferred to the scientists selected for the
year 2017 and 2018.
(x) Financial assistance amounting to Rs. 30,000/ - was given to Department of Zoology and Aquaculture,
CCS HAU, Hisar for organization of workshop on capacity building on aquaculture.
(xi) Two exposure visits were organized for the meritorious students studying in Govt. schools of the state.
(xii) For Celebration of National Technology Day - 2018 financial assistance amounting to Rs. 5.20 lacs was
provided to 10 Polytechnics/ITI and 21 engineering colleges/university department of engineering of
the State.
(xiii) For selecting 1,000 students under Haryana Science Talent Search scholarship scheme SCERT,
Gurugram conducted NTSE stage-l examination.
(xiv) Ministry of Culture, Govt. of India agreed in principle for setting up of Science City in NCR. Process to
finalize the site for Science City was under process.
(xv) Boundary wall alongwith gate complex as per design provided by NCSM has been got constructed
through PWD (B&R) Haryana for Sub Regional Science Centre.
(Now Science Centre Category-II) at Ambala.
(xvi) S&T Council released Rs. 4,60,000/- to seventeen universities for organizing workshop/ sensitization
programmes on Intellectual Property Rights.
(xvii) Setting up of Science Club in Govt. Sr. Sec. Schools of Haryana State.
(xviii) One student was honored with prize of Rs. 3.00 lac and certificate of appreciation for winning Silver
Medal in the "International Olympiad on Astronomy and Astrophysics 2018".
(xix) To improve the quality of mathematics teaching about 40 teachers were trained at Homi Bhaba Centre
of Science Education, Mumbai.
(xx) One day workshop on ground water problems and its solutions in Faridabad and surrounding area was
organized at YMCA University of Science and Technology, Faridabad.
(xxi) Regular shows and educational activities were organized at the Kalpana Chawla Memorial Planetarium,
Kurukshetra. 1,37,490 visitors visited the Planetarium and revenue of Rs. 28,59,765/- was generated
through sale of ticket.
(xxii) The Centre for Plant Biotechnology has well equipped plant tissue culture laboratories and it is engaged
in the production of elite germplasm of several crops through tissue culture technique. The centre has
generated total revenue of Rs. 3,26,5741- lacs.

(xxiii) Haryana Space Application Centre (HARSAC), Hisar has taken up the following major projects during

 Validation of Land record of Municipal Corporation Gurugram and establishment of Geospatial
lab.
 Cadastral mapping for all colonies in MC limits of Rohtak town.
 Establishment of Geospatial lab at MC Rohtak.
 Establishment of Geospatial lab at Mini Secretariat Gurugram for District Geo spatial
Application.
 UAV based Geospatial Mapping for Property Tax in Municipal Area of Bhiwani.
 Setting up of GIS Lab at Municipal Corporation, Faridabad.
 Setting up of GIS Lab at Divisional Commissioner Office, Mewat.
 Ease of Doing Business by linking of cadastral data to Record of Rights and creation of a web
portal.
 Bajra Crop Mapping and Acreage Estimation in Western and Southern Parts of Haryana.
 Monitoring and Evaluation of Watershed of IWMP Using Bhuvan Web Services and Mobile
App for the Period from 2011-2012 to 2014-2015 ..
 Development of Haryana Spatial Data Infrastructure (HSDI) Project.
 Proposed Route Alignment of High Power Electric Line.
 GIS Mapping of Government Schools in Haryana.
 GIS Mapping of Harappan Archaeological Sites in Haryana.
 Mapping of Govt. Ayurvedic and Homeopathic Hospitals and Dispensaries in Haryana.
 Preparation of GIS Database of Observation Wells and Rainwater Harvesting Sites in Haryana

 Forecasting Agricultural output using Space" Agro-meteorology and Land Based Observation
(FASAL) a National Agricultural Drought Assessment and Monitoring System (NADAMS).
 Monitoring Wheat and Rice Stubble Burning all Districts of Haryana (2018).
 Coordinated Horticulture Assessment and Management using geo-inforrnatics (CHAMAN-
Phase-II ).
 Crop monitoring and biophysical parameters studies using combined S and L-band data (NISAR
Programme).
 Mapping of Dry Wells in Karnal, Haryana.
 Mobile Application for Custom Hiring Centers.
 Forest Canopy Density in Notified Forest and Mapping of Trees Outside Forests.
