Pickles Deputy Head Teacher: Miss Sheila Birkett Chair of Governors: Mr Stephen Brown email: [email protected] 6 General Information about the School Harwood Park Primary School is a Rochdale Metropolitan Borough Education Authority co-educational community primary school for day pupils, with part-time places for Nursery aged pupils in our Early Years Foundation Stage Unit. We are situated near the centre of Heywood. There are street parking facilities near to the Civic Hall. The school is recognised as an Investor in People. In May 2010 we gained the Arts Council’s Artsmark Silver Award. We have also achieved Activemark and ‘I can’ status. The school was awarded the Healthy Schools award in 2008. School Buildings and Grounds We are housed in a two-storey building, circa 1914. The school has recently been remodelled under the Primary Capital Programme. Classrooms are modern, light and airy. There are large play areas to the rear of the building. We have a school field a short distance away from the main site. Community Use We run a Breakfast Club, which operates from 8am - 9am in the school's Community Room. This room is available to hire by community groups. Accessibility Accessibility and provision for disabled persons is very good. Staff Breakfast Club Leader: Miss Jennifer Mamoun Breakfast Club Assistant: Mrs Liz McArthur (Learning Mentor) Charges The cost is £2.00 per day, £10.00 per full week per child. Children are provided with a light breakfast and there are supervised activities for the children. If you would like your child to attend Breakfast Club please enquire at the school office, as places are limited. Dogs in School Dogs, with the exception of guide dogs, are not allowed on school grounds. We ask that parents leave dogs at home or wait well outside the school gate with their dog(s) when dropping off or picking up their children. 10
