ALmOND CHEESE SALL Grate: 1/2 lb. sharp cheddar cheese Mix with: 3 oz. softened cream cheese Add: 1/4 c. diced pimento 1/2 tsp. salt 3/4 c. sliced natural 1 tsp. W orcestershire sauce almonds 1 tsp. grated onion 1 tbsp. lemon juice Dash of cayenne Shape into a ball. Coat with 1/4 cup more of almonds. Serve chilled. Beulah Harris APPETIZER/SALAD 3 diced green peppers 1/4 c. oil 2 tomatoes, diced 1/2 c. cider vinegar 1 c. stuffed green olives 1 tsp. oregano 1/2 c. sliced celery Salt and pepper to taste Mix and set overnight. Sande Randle APPLE DIP 1 pkg. (8 oz.) cream cheese 1 tsp. vanilla 3/4 c. brown sugar 8 oz. peanuts, chopped 1/4 c. white sugar Whip first 4 ingredients, then add peanuts. Slice apple and dip. ~ote: Pre-sliced apples should be soaked in orange juice and drained. Sande Randle ARTICHOKE DIP 1 c. -mayonnaise 1 (15 oz.) can or jar 1 c. Parmesan cheese artichoke hearts Appetizers and Relishes - 5 Chop artichoke hearts into fine pieces, (drain first). Mix BOOZY DOGS artichoke hearts with mayonnaise and Parmesan cheese. Bake at 400 5 pkgs. small hot dogs 1 tsp. grated onion (or dry degrees for 20 to 30 minutes. J M' t ean tner 1 1/2 c. ketchup minced) .... 1 1/2 c. brown sugar 3/4 c. bourbon AUNT ERmA'S JALAPENO CHEESE SPREAD Combine all ingredients in saucepan. Simmer in morning 1 to 2 hours. Heat at night and serve in chafing dish. Time: 1 to 2 hours. 2 sticks butter 1 sm. can tomatoes or Faye Sparks 3 cloves garlic tomatoes with green 3 19. onions, chopped chilies CHEESE BALL 6 to 8 Jalapeno peppers 2 lb. Velveeta cheese 1 glass jar Roka cheese 1 (8 oz.) Philadelphia cream Melt butter and add garlic, onions and ,peppers. S~er for 45 1 glass jar Old English cheese minutes. Add tomatoes and simmer for 30 mmutes. Place m blender Cheddar and blend until smooth. Return to pap and add cheese (cut up), stirring constantly until cheese melts. Mix with: This can be chilled and served with crackers as a spread or 1/2 sm. grated onion served hot as a dip with Fritos or Doritos. Time: 1 hour 15 minutes. Add 1/2 of this mixture: Vicky Weis 1/4 c. chopped parsley 1/4 c. chopped pecans BANANA WHEAT GERmS Refrigerate until able to handle. Roll in ball and roll in rest of parsley and nuts. Roll in wax paper and foil. Will keep about 2 Banana Milk weeks. Toasted wheat germ Honey M abel Leonard Cut banana into bite size' pieces. Dip each piece into mixture of 1/2 milk and 1/2 honey. Drop pieces of .coated banana into plastic CHIPPED BEEF DIP bag filled with wheat germ and shake untIl well coated. Serve on tray with colored toothpicks. 4 or 5 hard boiled eggs, 1 pkg. chipped beef diced Sande Randle (smoked, sliced), diced 8 oz. cream cheese, 2 or 3 tsp. onion, diced softened 2 or 3 tsp. mayonnaise BARBECUE DIP Mix well, chill and serve. Good on slices of cocktail rye bread. 1/2 c. chili sauce 2 tsp. Worcestershire sauce Chris Engelmann 2/3 c. sour cream 1 tsp. lemon juice 1 tsp. prepared Tabasco to taste CHIPPED BEEF DIP Horseradish In a small bowl combine all ingredients and blend well. Chill 8 oz. cream cheese 2 tbsp. minced onion 1/2 c. sour cream Dash pepper . until ready to serve. Serve with cocktail franks, chunks of ham or 2 tbsp. milk vegetables for dipping. Makes 1 1/3 cups. Velveeta cheese 1 can crab meat (7 1/2 oz.) 1/2 c. chopped pecans 15 oz. Old English cheese 1 c. black olives sauteed in 2 tbsp. butter 2 tbsp. cream or milk 4 tbsp. sherry wine & 1/2 tsp. salt 1 c. mushrooms Dash Worcestershire sauce Put on top of casserole. Bake at 350 degrees for 20 minuteS. Mix and heat on stove. Keep warm over sterno or electric Serve with crackers. fondue. Jean Minter Jean Minter HOT CRAB DIP CHEESE ONION APPETIZER 1 (6 -8 oz.) pkg. frozen 1 tbsp. horseradish (or to 1 c. frozen chopped onions 1 c. sharp cheddar cheese, crab taste) 1 c. Hellman's mayonnaise grated 1 (8 oz.) pkg. cream cheese 1 tbsp. Worcestershire Combine all ingredients. Place in shallow baking dish. Bake for 1 tbsp. cream or milk sauce 30 minutes at 350 degrees. Serve with Fritos or Triscuits. Servings: 8 1 tbsp. instant minced Salt and pepper to taste to 10. onion Few sliced almonds Vicky Weis Blend cream cheese, cream, onion, horseradish and Worcestershire sauce. Gently add crab, salt and pepper, put in small shallow dish. CHILI CHEESE DIP Sprinkle with almonds and bake at 350 degrees until browned on top, about 20 minutes. 3/4 lb. ground beef Sm. pkg. Velveeta 1 can tomato soup 1 tbsp. chili powder 1 can chili, no beans 1 tsp. salt HOT CRABmEAT APPETIZER Brown beef, add soup, chili, chili powder, salt and simmer five minutes. Cut cheese into squares and add to mixture. Bake or 1 (8 oz.) pkg. cream cheese 1 tbsp. milk microwave until cheese melts. Serve with Nacho Cheese Doritos or 1 (6 oz.) can crab meat 1 tsp. salt Tostitos chips. 2 tbsp. finely chopped Dash of pepper Pat Stancik onions 1/3 c. sliced almonds Combine ingredients except almonds, mixing well. Spoon HOT CHILI DIP mixture into 8 inch pie pan. Sprinkle almonds on top and bake at 375 degrees for 15 minutes. 2 (8 oz.) cram cheese 1 (16 oz.) Co-Jack Mildred G. Schussler, Sr. 2 can chili no beans shredded cheese Spread cream cheese in 9 x 13 inch pan. Top with chili, then shredded cheese. Heat until melted, serve with taco chips. M elodye Queen Appetizers and Relishes - 9 8 - Happiness is Homemade Pilgram Faith Church CHILLI CON QUESO DIP Mix all of this well. Spread on English muffins. Slice into fourths. *Important you must freeze them for at least 30 minutes. 2 cans chili con carne 1 sm. can diced green (Can be frozen for weeks). When party time arrives take from plastic without beans chilies bag, if they have been frozen and stored, place on cookie sheet. Broil 1 bunch green onions with 1 lb. diced Velveeta cheese until they puff up and are bubbly and slightly golden brown. Serve tops, chopped hot. You can leave muffins in halves and serve as a luncheon as hot Mix all ingredients. Place in casserole and cover. Bake at 350 sandwich to accompany soup. degrees for 1 hour. Remove from ove~, stir.. Wait 20.minutes and Adele Hyncik serve with tortilla chips. NOTE: for qUIck heatmg, use M~crowave. Conme Noteboom cucumBER RYES CRAB DIP 1 loaf cocktail.rye 2 cucumbers peeled and 1 container whipped cream sliced , 8 oz. cream cheese Cocktail sauce cheese Dill weed 1 can King crab, drained 1 pkg. Good Seasons (Mild Italian) Pour King crab over cream cheese bar. Pour a sufficient amount of cocktail sauce over crab and cream cheese. Good with crackers. Mix cream cheese and spice the day before. Spread on rye, Chris Engelmann place cucumber on top. Pinch of dillweed. Beware: Dill weed is strong. CRAB DIP Pam Espinos 1 (8 oz.) carton cream 1 pkg. of Wakeman's Dill DIP cheese frozen crab 1 bottle of Shrimp & Best with fresh vegetables. Okay with chips. Seafood sauce 8 oz. cream cheese 3/4 c. finely chopped green Mix thoroughly. Serve with various crackers and chips. 1/2 c. mayonnaise onion Betty Hoskins 2 tsp. accent 2 tsp. parsley flakes 1 tbsp. dill weed BROilED CRAB mELTAWAYS If cream cheese has been softened, just stir together with a fork 1 pkg. English muffins (6) or spoon. If the cream cheese is firm, use an electric mixer to eliminate lumps. Slice muffins and arrange on cookie sheet. Mix the following Diane Miller together with mixer or spoon: 1 (1 oz.) can crab meat, 1 (7 oz.) jar Old English rinsed and drained Sharp Cheddar cheese 1 stick softened margarine 1/2 tsp. seasoned salt 2 tbsp. mayonnaise 1/2 tsp. garlic salt 10 - Happiness is Homemade Appetizers and Relishes - 11 Pilgram Faith Church
