He received his doctorate from the UniversityofMichigan,wherehehasbeenteachingsince2003.Priortojoiningthefac- ultythere,Dr.KitayamataughtattheUniversitiesofOregonandChicagoandatKyoto University. He serves as an Associate Editor of the Personality and Social Psychology Bulletin. Throughout his career Dr. Kitayama has studied cultural variations of self, emotion,andcognitionandhaspresentedhisworkinthebooks EmotionandCulture: EmpiricalStudiesofMutualInfluences(withHazelMarkus)andTheHeart’sEye:Emo- tionalInfluencesinPerceptionandAttention(withPaulaNiedenthal),aswellasinsuch leadingjournalsasPsychologicalReview,PsychologicalScience,andtheJournalofPer- sonality and Social Psychology. DovCohen,PhD,receivedhisdoctoratefromtheUniversityofMichiganandtaughtat theUniversityofWaterloo,Ontario,Canada,andtheUniversityofIllinois,whereheis currently a faculty member.
