On the otherhand,nonconvexities(e.g.,complementarity)in optimizationmodels canbeformulatedusingdiscretevariables. Inpastyears, wewitnessedseveraldevelopmentsincombinatorialoptimization. Thesedevelopmentscamealongwithprogressinrelatedfieldssuchascomplexity theory, approximation algorithms, as well as with advances in software and hardwaretechnology.
