The Fall Festival has developed into one of the elite consignment sales in the Kentuckiana region, and this 2016 offering is represented by some of the finest genetics and individual entries consigned to date. The Volume XV consignments are highlighted by the 40 open heifers that will sell, with 17 of these consigned by Heritage Farms. Virtually all of these heifers are AI sired and many of their EPDs and $Values rank in the top percentages of the entire Angus breed. Pay attention to this division, the quality and the genetics could work in any herd. The balance of the females offered includes 10 three-in-one packages, 28 bred cows, the majority of which will calve this fall. Eighteen outstanding bred heifers will also sell. The bull division is comprised of 35 bulls, 7 spring calves and 28 fall yearling bulls. All bulls over one year of age will sell with a current breeding soundness evaluation. Twenty-one bulls qualify as heifer acceptable under the Kentucky Ag Development Board’s Cost Share Genetic Improvement Program. Those of you with fall calving herds should really take a look at this group. I want to thank Great Meadows for the opportunity to work with them on this sale, and especially thank Tom McGinnis of Heritage Farms for the use of his excellent sale facilities and for the time and support that he provides to make the Great Meadow’s sales successful events. Don’t forget the Friday evening activities that include a preview of the cattle, refreshments and entertainment by “Outta the Blue”, and the Shelby County Youth Livestock sale. Come early Saturday to enjoy the fellowship with other Angus breeders, the silent auction, a delicious lunch, and most importantly, the SALE! All of the sale staff, the consignors, and the members of Great Meadows will look forward to your presence on sale day. Give any of us a call if we can help you in any way.
