Phil Cohen is a retired Black Ops hit man. His Grandson is kidnapped. At his daughter's request, he goes to Atlanta to help her, and her husband Maury, deal with the crisis. The kidnapper hires various criminal types to assist him, contacting them through email and sending them to drop points to pick up instructions and cash. The kidnapper insulates himself from detection by ensuring none of his hired help know or meet him or each other. Phil, nicknamed Gran De Daddy by his grandson, has the ability to transform his thoughts into the thoughts of the criminally insane. As the story progresses you find he is virtually insane himself. He deduces that the kidnapper will play a double cross, and instead of setting up a real time and place to make the transfer of Michael for the ransom money, he will arrive at their house with Michael. With a gun to Michael’s head, he will force the father to make a wire transfer of the ransom amount. Once the transfer is made, the kidnaper will kill Michael and the parents, making it seem like murder/suicide, and then set fire to the home to cover possible evidence and hinder any investigation. Phil thinks the perp has used this mode of operation many times, making him proficient in the execution of the crime.
Phil is frustrated, every avenue he pursues in his desperate search comes to a dead end. His desperation and anger reach a fever pitch after his daughter and son-in-law receive one of Michael’s fingers by way of FedEX. He comes to realize he is dealing with an intelligent psychopath. This is Phil's story of desperation, murder, and revenge wrapped around a blossoming romance between him and a young woman he rescues from an abusive boyfriend. He leaves a trail of death as he weeds through the chaff to get to the man who dared to harm his grandson. The action sequences are believable and the climatic ending is explosively violent.

I finished Gran De Daddy last night and just sat back and said "Wow". Please, find some way to write more Phil stories. I love the way the relationship develops withWilla, and Jasmine is adorable with the things that pop out of hermouth. I would also like to find out how Michael recovers from hisordeal. From what I could tell, he is a little trooper. The way youcharacterize Laury I would have to guess he is based on someone youknow, since you nailed him so well. Anyway,
Any chance of seeing more of Phil and his family from Gran De Daddy? I loved that story and I would certainly buy more stories about any continuing adventures. I know it would be hard to come up with a plausible reason for Phil to come out of retirement again but well worth the effort.
