Each unit will cover one theme and will be taught over three weeks (15 days). A unit will also mostly focus on one kind of text type so that the students get very familiar with that text type and they can learn how to write texts following the structure of the text type. There might also be specific vocabulary that will go with certain text types. In general the first week of a unit introduces an item/topic/competence, during the second week it is practised and in the third week the students can use it by themselves. In the third week the teacher will see to what extend the students have masters the new item/topic/competence. During the lesson development the reading text will be central. It will be used as a guide for all activities. Also many of the components are interlinked: the writing activity is linked to the reading text: writing using the same text structure, same topic. Speaking activity is also based on the reading text, the topic, the text type. The vocabulary (academic and thematic) is used in reading text, the writing, and speaking activity.
