We are meant to embrace life’s moments as they unfold. Each unfolding ought to be treated as a gift , a lesson, or a pleasure. I share in Valerie’s philosophy of combining body, mind, and soul to create our dreams and to always look to the next chance to make a new dream come true. It was a few years ago, when I was fi lming a segment for “Entertainment Tonight” at Pebble Beach, that I fi rst met Valerie. Valerie and her husband, Wally, joined my husband, Helmut, and me for dinner, where we shared stories about New York City. Enchanted by the Scottish bagpipers who played at sundown on the greens of Spanish Bay, Helmut and I decided to stay one more night—one of many examples of embracing life in the moment when our busy schedule permits. Whether you’re in your twenties or sixties or nineties, my conviction is to never believe, think, or act as though you are old. In fact, take the word old out of your vocabulary! Life gives us many chances to conceptualize and live our dreams, but if we are too busy shadowing these possibilities with fear vii Copyright © 2008 by Valerie Ramsey and Heather Hummel. Along the way, share your journey, as Valerie is doing with this book, and learn that by inspiring others, we continue to inspire ourselves, to shine, and to allow wonderful events to unfold. Valerie, like me, believes that by staying physically, men- tally, and spiritually fi t, we are better prepared for our own individual adventure. Inner beauty resonates as outer beauty. Th ink about it: the most beautiful women are those who put a smile on others’ faces with their own smile, yet a frown on the most stunning woman is still a frown. Valerie’s message on the pages of this book will inspire you to live life without limitations. Everyone has a dream, and it doesn’t have to be about acting or modeling. It is about what makes you as an individual whole and happy.
