Apologies noted. NK reminded the meeting that this was a meeting held in public and there were two agenda slots for questions. Agenda item 10/17 was an opportunity for the public to ask questions on issues relating to the first part of the agenda and agenda item 21/17 was an opportunity to ask general health related questions. 1 Chair: Dr Nikita Kanani | Chief Officer: Sarah Blow NK stated that all meeting papers should be read prior to the meeting and presenters would provide updates on the reports but not the report detail. 02/17 DECLARATIONS OF INTEREST 02.17.1 There were no declarations of interest. 03/17 CHAIR’S UPDATE REPORT 03.17.1 NK introduced Neil Ross, the new Governing Body Lay Member, and welcomed him to the meeting. He is a London barrister who works in prosecution and defence and has experience in dealing with fraud and corruption in healthcare. 03.17.2 SB was congratulated on her appointment as the Accountable Officer for five CCGs across south west London. NK thanked SB for her huge contribution to the improvement in patient services in Bexley. SB has led NHS Bexley for four and a half years and is incredibly proud of what has been achieved in those years and is confident Bexley will continue from strength to strength. Following discussion at the GB private meeting, subject to interview, the preferred interim arrangement, is for NK to step-down from the chair role and to become the Clinical Chief Officer and SD to step up from Clinical Vice Chair to Clinical Chair whilst the CCG review options and agree a permanent solution for Bexley. NK would be supported by TO as Chief Operating Officer and directors. AD was thanked for her support as Interim Quality, Governance and Performance. Michael Boyce, current Deputy Director of Primary Care Development, PMO and Financial Information has been appointed to the permanent post of Director of Quality, Governance and Performance. 03.17.3 NK and SB attended the January Bexley Health & Wellbeing Board to discuss the Great Weight Debate and integrated care. Signed off minutes of the meeting will be included on the CCG March meeting agenda. 03.17.4 During January the CCG has been supporting ‘do something good for you’ campaign which encouraged local people to be a little healthier by making changes to what people eat, by drinking more water and being more psychically active. 03.17.5 The medicines management team and engagement team are busy raising awareness about wasted medications in Bexley. The total cost across the NHS for unused medications nationally is £300 million every year. In Bexley the total for medications thrown away in 2016 is estimated at £517,244. Discussions are on-going with patients, GPs, pharmacists and hospitals to address this issue and make an impact in reducing the amount of unused medication waste. 2 Chair: Dr Nikita Kanani | Chief Officer: Sarah Blow 03.17.6 The CCG held a Health Fair at Bexley College on 25 January 2017 with over 300 students of various ages from Bexley and Dartford attending. Students had the opportunity to engage with a range of service providers such as Cruse, the bereavement service, Kent Association for the Blind, Oxleas mental health services, London Borough of Bexley health promotion and apprenticeships, police, fire, the CCG, Healthy London Partnerships, GPs, London Ambulance Service, Healthwatch, BVSC, Mind Bexley, Nexus, Family Matters and more. The day was a huge success. 03.17.7 The CGG has supported the ‘stay well this winter’ national campaign by Public Health England which has been widely promoted via national and local media with important messages such as: 1. Remember to get the flu jab if in an eligible group 2. Seek advice from a local pharmacist at the first sign of a winter illness 3. Collect prescription medicines before the pharmacy or GP practice closes for Christmas 4. Keep warm 5. Look out for other people The CCG has also been helping local people to use appropriate health services, depending on the illness or injury that they have, by promoting NHS 111 and Health Help Now. Encouraging people to use their pharmacist or GP, and when they have an urgent but non-life threatening illness, to use one of Bexley’s two urgent care centres. All of these will help to ensure that emergency departments are kept free for people that really need them. 03.17.7 From Monday 27 February 2017 the CCG will move to their new offices at Bexley Council Civic Centre and phone numbers and email addresses will remain the same. 04/17 MINUTES OF THE GOVERNING BODY MEETING (HELD IN 04.17.1 PUBLIC) DATED 24 NOVEMBER 2016 Minutes of the Governing Body meeting (held in public) dated 24 November 2016 were agreed. 05/17 MATTERS ARISING/ACTION NOTES 05.17.1 Actions completed. 06/17 DECISION FROM OTHER FORA 06.17.1 The following decisions were made since the Governing Body (public) meeting held on 24 November 2016: 06.17.2 APPROVED the award of a contract to MIND in Bexley for the provision of Talking therapy (IAPT) services from 1 April 2017 to 31 March 2020 with an option to extend the contract for up to a period of a 3 Chair: Dr Nikita Kanani | Chief Officer: Sarah Blow
