Thisbookassumesthatabasicarchitecturaldesignoftherooftobeconstructedisalreadycompleted, i.e.thespan,pitch,lengthandanyadditionalsupportingwalls.Guidanceisgivenonhowtocalculate thesizeofindividualroofmembertimbers,thecuttinglength,theanglesandthecompoundcuts.The book now also includes all aspects to be considered when choosing the roof covering, including the suitabilityofthetilesorslatesforthepitchandexposureoftheroofconcerned,thechoiceofa‘warm’or ‘cold’roof,theconsiderationstobegiventothecorrectinsulation,andthepossibilitiesandavoidance ofcondensationwithintheroofspacebydealingcorrectlywithventilation.
