This one came out of some research I’m doing on the LSF website. It’s really an elementary
school dance, but it can also be used as a fun way to end a square dance or even square
dance lessons. I wouldn’t use it all the time, but just
once in a while for laughs.
GOOD NIGHT LADIES
Formation: Partners facing each other in a double
circle. Boys have their backs to the center of the ring.
Girls’ backs are to the wall.

Verse: Good night, ladies,
Good night, ladies,
Good night, ladies,
We’re going to leave you now.
Chorus: Merrily we roll along, roll along, roll along;
Merrily we roll along, o’er the deep blue sea.
ACTION
Verse: Boy shakes hands with partner, then both boy and girl move right to the next partner.
Repeat two times. On the last line of the verse, take that partner in promenade position and
promenade (4th person).
Chorus: Continue the promenade. End facing that partner to begin the dance again.
