In regular season they had a 9-5 record. - The J.V. Academic Bowl Team won the District Title and were Tournament Champions for the Southside Region with a record of 15-0. The Varsity Academic Bowl Team tied for Third Place in District and competed on "Battle of the Brains" on Oct. 19, 1994. The teams were asked to compete in the Regional Science Bowl in Washington, D.C., on Feb. 25, 1995. - The Marching Barons and Color Guard won numerous awards, including Small Band Invitational - Second Place horn line, Second Place band Class AAAA, Superior rating; Union Pines Invitational - First Place drum major, First Place percussion, First Place horn line, Second Place Color Guard, First Place band Class AAA, Superior rating. - FFA member Adam Wilbourne won the Southside Area Tractor Operators Contest on Oct. 18, 1994, and went on to State Competition to represent Bluestone in Blacksburg in June. - The Bluestone Senior FFA Chapter was recognized with several awards at the State Competition, including the highest award given to a chapter, Superior Chapter Award; the Chapter Safety Award and placed ninth in the state for the National rating; a Silver Public Relations Award, the second highest place in the state for their work in informing and assisting the community; and freshman Travis Gayles won in State Junior Prepared Public Speaking. - Teachers Mrs. Paula Hauenstein and Mrs. Debbie Hamilton were selected to be among Who's Who Among American Teachers which recognizes teachers nationwide who have made a difference to their students future plans. These teachers were nominated by their students. - The BETA Club for academic achievers boasts a membership of 73 students this year. Students must maintain a 3.0 GPA and have the qualities of scholarship, leadership, and good moral character to be in the club. - The Track Team boasted girls being Third Place overall and boys being Fifth Place overall at the District level. The track team placed in 13 different categories at the District Tournament.
