Online Instruction?
Theonline learning
system isdesigned
to providestudents
with GED instruc-
tion delivered via
the Internet.
The system offersthose seeking a GED
credential,a self-paced resourcethatcan
be used anytimefrom anycomputerwith
Internetaccess. This onlinestudytool
can be used free ofcharge by Illinois GED
students. Thesystem is intended to
increasestudents'studyoptions in their
questfor successful completion ofthe
GED.
GED students seeking accessto the
system will be matched upwith an adult
educationteacher,to provide interaction,
support,and guidance.The GED Illinois
Online Instruction is used in a variety of
differentways byadulteducation pro-
gramsacrossthestate. Programscan use
the online system to deliver instruction to
students intheclassroom in conjunction
with a teacherorout ofthe classroom at
any location with ateacher's onlineassis-

How Does the System Work?
TheGED Illinois Online Instructional sys-
tem has many easyto usefunctionsthat
provide both independent learning and
professional instructional support.
• Anytime access,from any location with
a computerand Internetservice.
• Pre-surveysand post-teststo position
students in the exact course ofstudy
they need to prepare forthe GEDtest.
• An adulteducatorto gradeassign-
ments,communicate instructions,and
supplyfeedbackto individuals using
thesystem.
• A Help Desk contactto provide
technical assistanceto students.

Will the system prepare me for the
test?
Yes,GED Illinois Online Instruction has
been designed to coverall ofthe areas
ofthe2002 GED Test. Math,Writing,
Reading,Social Studiesand Scienceare
all addressed.
There iseven
a section
intended to
assiststudents
withtesttak-
ing strategies.
How long doeseach section take?
Each lesson ofGED Illinois Online
Instruction will take approximately 50
minutes. Somecontentrequires more
instruction and tends to takea little
moretime,but in eithercasestudents
using the system can workattheir own
pacethroughthe online instruction.
