Kathy loves the view of the large picture windows, but would also like privacy. She is concerned about keeping her loft warm in the winter and cool in the summer. Finally, Kathy would like something creative and unique from New York to bring into her new loft, new life, and new home. Home Design Statement I designed a neutral palette of sandy browns and white as the backdrop for a splash of blue and green found in the pillows and sheer curtain separating the living and bedroom areas. The sofa folds into a bed for overnight guests and the multifunctional coffee table can be adjusted to 7 different heights. A wall mounted fireplace burning denatured alcohol adds warmth in the winter. A round kitchen table also serves as a desk with mid- century etageres as storage. The windows are dressed in honeycomb shades to allow for a view or privacy and temperature control. In keeping with the era of the restored warehouse, I furnished the loft with 1940’s arm chairs, round metal end table, and a pair of Italian Buble Murano lamps. Also, an Eileen Gray Telescopic end table, with Machine Age style sconces, and an original chandelier from New York designer, Michael McHale.
