Herman Gunderson was born in Hallingdal,
Norway, in 1834. Mr. ? & Mrs. Anna
Herman Gunderson left Sibley County, MN,
in June, 1877, to migrate to Norman
County, MN. Herman laid a claim to the S.E.
Quarter in Section 34 in Strand Township,
Norman County, MN. Herman Gunderson
& Carl Benson families were the first
settlers in Strand Township –the date June
25, 1877. Herman had 2 sons: Lars (Annie
Olson) and Ole (Clara Slette) Gunderson and

one daughter, Thilda (Nere) Nereson.
Strand Township was originally named
Ole Hermanson Gunderson “Herman” after its first settler Herman
Fodt (Born): September 17, 1858 Gunderson. Herman died May 11, 1900, in
Dode (Died): March 7, 1900 Strand Township, Norman County, MN.
