Into the New Age of Awareness 219 To the Reader . . . “Among the many views held by men Neither reject nor accept you them. If one speaks falsely be you calm, For he does himself a secret harm”. From The Golden Verses of Pythagoras (c. 597–504 bc) We pass through life but once. We are here because we have an important purpose to fulfill, a fulfillment which these pages will help achieve. You may be assured that it is not by chance that we meet over these words, through these pages. We are each aware that life has so much more meaning–and find that meaning we shall. What other reason has brought us together at this very point in time? Your life has already met with some success–more, perhaps, than you realize. But as we develop an awareness of our purpose, and as we proceed to fulfill it, success becomes far more than an occasional consequence. Success, the true foundation of happiness, is the light on the path, the light which shines as we graduate from each of life’s lessons. Our life on this planet is programmed to develop in stages. These unfold as we live through its many cycles, each equipping us for the following aspect of our development. The greatest single factor influencing our understanding of life and, in fact, our overall development, is our state of health. Not merely physical health, but our total health is the basis of our every ability and expression. This is man’s most neglected asset, its abuse creating his greatest liability. Human health has its foundation, not in the study of the physical sciences per se, but in a total study of metaphysical, as well as physical, man. All disease can be traced to disharmony; likewise, good health can only prevail in man’s attunement to nature, to harmony. Man’s total awakening to this principle is the cause to which this book is dedicated. We live and thus, clearly, have chosen this life. It is therefore our responsibility to live it properly. Foremost on our list of priorities is the acquiring and maintaining of good health. This is achieved, not by chance, but by our awareness of the total pattern of health as composed of its numerous physical and metaphysical facets–from soil to psyche. —The Author 7
