Holding the opponent in a danger position (final action of hold) . 254 This book as well as other FI LA programs was inspired by the Olympic So lidarity concept of the IOC, which played a considerable role in this publica tion. On behalf of all organizations affiliated with the FI LA, I wish to express my thanks to the President of the IOC, Mr. Juan Antonio Samaranch, and to the director of Olympic Solidarity, Mr. A. Lopez, who through their understanding and their moral and financial support made a large contribution to the realiza tion of this book. Milan ERCEGAN President, FILA PREFACE For a long time now, there has been a need for an universal manual on the modern technological approach to specialized training. Wrestling coaches were not the only ones concerned. There was also a need for a training manual in the education sector - among the various schools and universities where highly qualified professional managers were trained. Wanting to fulfil these needs, Professor Raiko Petrov of Bulgaria, member of the Board of FILA, who has successfully completed all phases of wrestling - from competitor up to coach of the national team, professor, and man of science, assumed this considerable task. He has put his vast knowledge and wide range of experiences into this book, giving coaches, instructors, professors, schools, and universities a basic manual. On behalf of the international wrestling community, I thank Raiko Petrov, who has enriched wrestling theory and practice by this major work. Milan ERCEGAN President, FILA
