Bodyratherelongate,moderatelythick- enedanddistinctlyconstrictedbetweenprothoraxandelytra. Headsubquadrate, irregularlyandcoarselypunctate;clypeustransverselyhex- a9ona1andgentlyconvexabove, truncatein front,distinctlyclothedwithlonghairs oneachside;genaeratherstronglyraisedanteriad,roundlyproducedobliquelyfor_ wards,withpostero-ocularportionsweaklyproducedlaterad; fronswithanoblong impunctateportioninmiddle, fronto-clypea1suturefineandsublinear;eyesmedium- sized, weaklyconvex laterad, diatoneabout 6 timesthewidthoftransversedjameter of an eye. Antennae reachingbasal portionof pronotum, ratio of the length of eachsegmentfrombasaltoapical:0.42,0.2,0.35,0.21,0.23,0.23,0.23,0.23,0.24,0.25, 0.47. Pronotumsubcordate,1.2timesaswideaslong,widestatapical1/3;apexnearly straight inmiddlewidely, neithermarginednor rimmed; basemoderately rounded andfinely rimmed; lateralmarginsarcuatelateradand finelyrimmed; front angles rather distinctlyangulate;discgentlyconvex, ratherclosely,irregularlyandcoarsely punctate,eachpuncturewithashortdecumbent hair. Elytraoblongovate,about16timesaslongaswide,2.4timesthelengthanda littlemorethan t2timesthewidthofpronotum,widestatbasal3/7;dorsumrather stronglyconvexthoughslightlyflattenedinmiddle, thickest at themiddle;discrather strongly punctate-striate; intervals gentlyconvex, eachwith of minute and a ro w hairedpunctures; apicesproducedposteriad;9thintervalwith threesetiferousumbil- icatepores, oneatbasal t/5,whichisgentlyprojectedlateradandvisible fromabove, anotheratapical2/7,andtheotheratapical1/7. Propleurasomewhatvitreous,strongly,rathersparselypunctateandfinelyhaired; each femur withoutspine, ratiosof the lengthsof pro-,meso- and metatarsomeres: 0.51,0.32,0.31,0.28, 1.2; 0.62,0.39, 0.31,0.29,1.24;1.31,0.67,0.37,1.53. Male genitalia fusiform and about 125mm in length; fused lateral lobes I/5 timesthelengthofbasalpiece,withapexnarrowlyrounded. Bodylength:5.5-5.7mm. Holotype: DiancangShanMts., Yuzhu Feng(3,500malt), DaliShi, Yun- , nan, China, 5-IX-1993, Y.WATANABEleg. Paratype: 1ex., same locality and date asfortheholotypebut3,550minaltitude,S.-I.UENoleg. N「otes. Thisnewspeciessomewhat resemblesLaena(s.str),hododendr1'KAszAB, 1977,originallydescribed fromEastNepal,butcanbedistinguishedfromthelatter by themedium-sizedeyes, closelypunctategenae, andsubcordatepronotumwithan impressiononeachside. Thenumberandpositionofsetiferousumbilicateporeson the9thelytralintervalseemtoserveasanimportantfeatureforidentifyingthespecies. Dark yellowish brown, withmarginsof pronotum,sutural intervalsand femoradarker incolour,mouthparts, tibiaeand tarsi paler;dorsalsurfacestrongly, vitreouslyshining,ventralsurfacemoderatelyshining,eachclothedwith rather long hairs,whicharedistinct inpostero-lateral portionsofelytra. Body ratherelongate, thickenedposteriorly,distinctlyconstrictedbetweenprothoraxandelytra. Headwidelypentagonal,gentlyraisedinmiddle,withanimpressioninanterior portiononeachside,irregularlyandstronglypunctate;clypeussomewhat transversely elliptical,distinctlyclothedwithratherlonghairs,truncateinfront;genaeraisedand almost impunctateinapicalportions,sublinearlydivergent forwards indorsal view; eyesmedium-sized, convex laterad, diatoneabout 5 times thewidth of transverse diameter ofaneye. Antennaereachingbasalportionofelytra, ratio of the fen9th ofeachsegment frombasaltoapical:0.41,0.2,0.38,0.23,0.26,0.28,0.29,0.31,0.31, 033,0.46. . pronotumshortsubcordate,1.2timesaswideaslong,widest at apical1/3;apex nearlystraight,slightlymargined inlateral portions; basehardly produced, finely margined; lateralmarginsmoderatelyarcuatelaterad,finelymargined; frontan9leS rounded;discgentlyconvex,rathercloselypunctate. Elytraabout1.6timesaslongaswide,2.6timesthelengthand13timesthewidth ofpronotum,widest atbasal3/7, thickestat themiddle,andratherstronglyConvex ondorsum;discwithrowsofstrongpunctures,whichareoftenweaklystriated and arelargestinthe3rdrow;intervalsslightlyconvex,eachwitharowofspa「SePunc- tures;3rdintervalwithasetiferousumbilicateporesatapical1/7,7thwithoneatbasal l/ll,andgthwjththree:oneatbasal t/7,whichisdistinctlyprojectedlateradand vjsjblefromabove,anotheratapical2/7,andtheotheratapical1/7, thelatte「two poresbeingmoreorlessprojectedpostero-laterad. propleurasomewhatvitreous,rathercloselypunctate;eachfemurwithoutSpine, ratiosof thelengthsofpro-,meso-andmetatarsomeres:0.47,0.32,0.30,0.23,0・89; 0.63, 0.31,0.26,0.23, 1.18; 1.1, 0.68,0.32,1.27. Eyesalittlelargerandmorestronglyconvexlaterad,diatoneabout5.2tjmesthe widthof transversediameterofaneye; fronto-clypea1andfronto-genal bordersjm_ pressed. Antennaewith ratioofthelengthofeachsegment from basal to apical: 0.39, 0.2, 0.35, 0.24, 0.23, 0.23, 0.23, 0.24, 0.28, 0.26, 0.48. Pronotum a little less than t3timesaswideaslong;basenotmargined. Elytraslightlymorethant5timesaslongaswide,2.2timesthelengthand12 timesthewidthofpronotum;rowsofpuncturesmoredistinctlystriated;intervalsmore Convex,eachwitharowofdenserpunctures;3rdintervalwithonesetiferousumbilicate poreatapicall/9,7thwithoneatbasal t/9,and9thwiththree:oneatbasalt/6,which isdistinctly projectedlateradandvisiblefromabove, anotherat apical1/5, and the Four New Lao,1c1from Yunnan 169 otheratapical1/10,thelattertwogentlyprojectedpostero-laterad:apicesmorestrongly producedposteriad. Reddis、l brown,withmouthpartsand tarsi lighterincolour;eachsurface clothed with shorter, decumbent pale hairs. Bodyshorter and m ore strongly con- strictedbetweenprothoraxandelytra,slightlymoreconvexabove. Headnarrower,moresparselyandfinelypunctate, withanimpunctateportion in middle; genae less distinctly divergent forwards; eyes smaller and lessstrongly convex laterad, diatoneabout 6 times thewidth of transverse diameter of an eye. Antennae a littleshorter, reaching baseof pronotum, ratio of the length of each segment from basal to apical: 0.41, 0.2,0.36, 0.22, 0.24, 0.26, 0.27, 0.25, 0.27, 0.29, 039. . Pronotum l 3 timesaswide as long, widest at apical 1/3; disc weakly micro- shagreened:lateralmarginsandbasefinelymargined;hindanglesslightly,obliquely truncateand feeblysinuatebeforethetruncation. Elytra alittlelessthan t 6timesaslongaswide,slightly lessthan 2.4 times the lengthandabout13timesthewidthof pronotum, widest atbasal 2/5;rowsofpunc- turessparserandnotstriated:intervalslessconvex,eachwitharowoffinerpunctures; 3rd interval with onesetiferousumbilicateporeatapical 1/8, 7th with one at basal 1/l8,and9thwiththree:oneatbasalt/7,whichisdistinctlyprojectedlaterad,another atapical l/4、andtheotheratapical l/8, thelatter twoporesbeingmoreor lesspro- jectedpostero-1aterad:apicesmorestronglyproducedposteriad.
