REPORTS 2007 Annual Report 2. REPORTS 2.1 PRESIDENT’S REPORT Since the new Board was elected on the 3rd of August, it has been an exciting, demanding and exhilarating time for myself, the Board, our CEO and his team at FFV. Our main target has been to have a Strategic Plan implemented in the New Year of 2008, keeping our sights set fi rmly on the future direction of FFV. The real task at hand was to listen to what the football people in Victoria currently thought about our game and how they believed the direction the FFV should be focused and driven. We traveled and made ourselves available to all clubs, across all zones and met with our six Standing Committees and 24 Zone Representatives, listening and noting with help from the facilitators from Sports Business P/L all the evaluations and ideas of the stakeholders. Additional interviews with relevant state government departments, local councils, Melbourne Victory, VIS and FFA also took place in November and were folded in to the mix before the board sat down to commence setting the Strategic Plan Framework. Members have been invited to attend a Planning Workshop on the 19th December 2007 which we see as one of the most important sessions we will hold to date. There have been many other matters that have arisen over the last few months and the CEO will discuss the operational achievements and the new directions from FFA but our job as a board is to get the long term plan settled so that all our stakeholders can see where the game is heading in Victoria. We thank the many tireless volunteers of our game, we are fully appreciative of the fact that their work load is enormous. Visiting the country regions and seeing fi rst hand their special conditions re travel , effects of the drought and the isolation from many services inspired us to work harder on providing equal opportunities for all Victorians. I can say with confi dence that the efforts of all involved in our great game are reaping great rewards. The number of new participants each year is growing and we are seeing a wonderful increase in girls playing. The excitement of seeing the Victorians excelling in various national teams and in the A League makes us all proud and many can claim some ownership of their success. Thank you to everyone involved at all levels and I ask that you ensure you give your own families the attention that they deserve as well as other people’s children when you are volunteering in our great game. On behalf of the Board of Directors, thanks for your support. Tony Dunkerley President Football Federation Victoria
