You know the City is changing quickly! Have people who are making the big decisions asked you what YOU think? The City of Newark is making plans for.the future. But the new “Land Use” plan does not include space for parks or schools, like it should. You can have a voice! Get involved today! The City of Newark’s “Land Use” maps, and a new zoning ordinance, will be voted on by the Planning Board and the City Council in late August or September, 1999. Don’t let them pass the new plans without including those things which are important to who live here: schools, parks, community facilities. You can tell the Mayor and your Councilmember that planning for the future is important, and should respond to community needs. Call Mayor James at 733-6400. For the Municipal Council, call 733-3788 and ask for your representative. i Newark is your home. Get involved in the City's future. These are examples of planning issues in which the community does not have enough input : + In the North Ward low-quality housing is being developed without consideration for schools and residential crowding in the neighborhoods. « In the South Ward plans for the future Industrial Park have gone forward without the local residents knowing what type of light industry will be located there and how to apply for the jobs. + In the Central Ward there are proposals to relocate South 17th Street School inside West Side Park. + In the East Ward public schools are on average 57% overcrowded. » In the West Ward there should be resident input regarding the future development plans for the Pabst Site. | North Ward - Anthony Carrino: 733-3753 South Ward - Donald Bradley: 733-8043 Central Ward - Cory Booker: 733-5396 East Ward - Augusto Amador: 733-3665 West Ward - Mamie Bridgeforth: 733-6563
