Tammy and Ray Fitch of Willits win 2nd annual car giveaway After combing through about 100 applications for deserving recipients, the Willits Rotary Club decided to choose Tammy and Ray Fitch of Willits to be the winners of the second annual Willits car giveaway. The announcement was made during the Willits Frontier Days Hometown Celebration, where gathered attendees awaited the 6 pm announcement from giveaway co-organizers Mike Smith of Willits Furniture and Jeff Yokum of Yokum’s Body Shop. The Fitches received nine separate nominations from community members who wrote about how the couple needed reliable transportation to help with Ray’s medical conditions and travel for appointments in the city, and how they would be a greatly deserving recipient of the 2007 Nissan Versa. The pair excitedly accepted the keys for the vehicle, along with a $500 gasoline card from Ace Copy and Shipping on Friday. Ace Copy joined Willits Furniture and Yokum’s Body Shop in sponsoring the giveaway this year, as did Eric Mehtlan of Mehtlan Insurance Agency, who donated $500 in car insurance, and Adam’s Tire, which did a new transmission on the car, as well as an oil change, two tires and readied the Versa to be road-trip ready.
