(D.N.) 127 Thc Gazette of India EXTRAORDINARY PART II—Section 3—Sub-Section (ii) PUBLISHED BY AUTHORITY No. 68] NEW DELHI, SATURDAY, JANUARY 25, 1992/MAGHA 5, 1913 Separate Paging is given to this Part in order that it may be filed as a separate compilation 242 GI/92 (1) 2 GA OF A : rkAORDINARY [PART II--SEC. 3(li)] MINISTRY OF LAW, JUSTICE AND COMPANY AFFAIRS (Legislative Department) NOTIFICATION (New Delhi, the 25th January, 1992 S.O. 76(E).—Whereas for the purpose of holding a general election to the House of the People, the President had, by notification No. S.O. 268(E), issued under sub-section (2) of section 14 of the Representation of the People Act, 195 K and published in the Gazette of India, Extraordinary, Part II, Section 3, Sub-section fu), dated the 19th April, 1991, called upon all the parliamentary constituencies (other than those within the State of Jammu and Kashmir) to elect members to the said House; And whereas the said notification of the President in so far as it related to the State of Punjab, was cancelled under the provisions of "the Cancellation of General Elections in Punjab Act, 1991"; 3 And whereas it has been decided to hold a general election for the purpose of electing members to the House of the People from the State of Punjab; And whereas the Election Commission has recommended the 25th January, 992, as the date on which the President may be pleased to publish a notification n the Gazette of India calling upon all parliamentary constituencies in that State to elect members to the said House; Now, therefore, in pursuance of the provisions contained in sub-section (2) of section 14 of the Representation of the People Act, 1951 (43 of 1951), the President is pleased to call upon all the parliamentary constituencies in the State of Punjab to elect members to the House of the People in accordance with the provisions of the said Act and of the rules and orders made thereunder.
