But you may not know that an advanced-hybrid of ethanol - called E-85 - is gaining in popularity and is increasingly available throughout the state. Gov. Rod Blagojevich is leading by example in Illinois and recently unveiled new efforts to promote E-85 and increase access for consumers. E-85 is a new blend of motor fuel comprised of 85 percent ethanol and only 15 percent gasoline. Besides its superior performance, E-85 burns cleaner than regular gasoline, it is completely renewable and environmentally-friendly. Because E-85 is pro¬ duced locally, it expands our state economy and increases our nation's energy independence. Gov. Blagojevich believes that E-85 could revolu¬ tionize the automotive and oil industries as we know them. E-85 runs most effectively in Flexible Fuel Vehicles or FFVs, as special adjustments are needed for engines to operate correctly. Already, consumers are asking automotive dealers for addi¬ tional models of FFVs, and their availability will increase as awareness and demand for E-85 grows. When you consider purchasing a new car or truck, ask about a Flexible Fuel Vehicle that will support Illinois agriculture and ourthriving ethanol industry.
