Always conduct a skin patch test before using a new essential oil. Do this by applying the essential oil that has been diluted with a carrier oil on the inner aspect of your elbow, bandage it and wait for 24 hours to see if you will develop rashes or itchiness or swelling or any other sign of an allergic reaction. If you do, do not use that essential oil. 2. Always buy your essential oils from a reputable vender to ensure you use high quality therapeutic grade essential oils in your blends. 3. Do not confuse essential oils with fragrance oils since the latter do not have the natural healing benefits of essential oils. ***** Chapter 3 AROMATHERAPY RECIPES FOR ACNE TREATMENT Aromatherapy Gel Add 50 drops of essential oils used to treat acne like tea tree, lemon or lavender to one cup (8 oz or 250 ml) of natural aloe vera gel to create a non-greasy, healing moisturizer. Steam Cleansing. Add 50 drops of essential oils used to treat acne like tea tree, lemon or lavender to one cup (8 oz or 250 ml) of water and put it in your facial steamer or sauna or bowl. Bend over the bowl and cover your head with a towel so that the aromatic steam can open and cleanse your pores. Clay Face Mask . Add 3 drops of essential oils used to treat acne like tea tree, lemon or lavender to 1 teaspoon (5 ml) of fuller’s earth clay or bentonite or green clay. Mix with 1 teaspoon of water to create a smooth paste. Apply it to the face and let it set. Rinse of after 15 minutes with warm water. This clay mask is perfect for deep cleansing of the skin pores. Facial Toner. Add 20 drops of essential oils used to treat acne like tea tree, lemon or lavender to 3 ½ fl ounces or 100 ml of distilled water to make a non-drying facial toner. Aromatherapy Bath. Create a relaxing bath by dispersing 12 drops of essential oils used to treat acne like tea tree, lemon or lavender in your warm bath water.
