In general, the manual is aimed at helping student employees: develop a philosophy of service and promote a friendly service-oriented attitude; fulfill all designed tasks; become aware of the nature of the library patron's needs; make clear the student employee's limitations in assisting patrons; ensure that library patrons receive adequate aasistance; and increase the student employee's own knowledge about the library and the resources available in the support of their own library "Dean's Letter needs. Since this manual cannot cover in detail the specific jobs you may find yourself performing, each area will have additional standards and guidelines to complement what is detailed in this manual.
