Although the topic of girl-only gangs has gained national attention and research interest, the paper asserts no girl-only bibliographic tools are available to help locate information on the topic. The emphasis is on resources related to girl-only gangs, but the paper also includes seminal works on youth gangs which are intended to provide users the historical and theoretical aspects of the topic. The bibliography is divided into three (1) selected monographs on youth gangs and girl-only gangs; sections: (2) popular and scholarly articles on gangs and girl-only gangs; and (3) newspaper articles related to the topic. INFORMATION CENTER (ERIC) EST COPY AVAILABLE it ABSTRACT Although teenage girls had been involved in criminal activities from prostitution to infanticide for centuries, the formation of girl-only gangs has been relatively new phenomenon. More specifically, it is a twentieth century American phenomenon. Today, despite numerous governmental efforts, this problem is far from being resolved. In fact, the number of girl-only gangs is on the rise, and moreover they are as violent as boy gangs. While this topic has gained national attention and research interest, there exists virtually no girl-only gang bibliographic tools assisting users to locate information they need. This bibliography is intended to fill that gap. It attempts to provide students, researchers, and librarians resources relating to girl-only gangs. Although the emphasis is on resources related to girl-only gangs, seminal works on youth gang are also included. They are intended to provide users the historical and theoretical aspects of the topic. The bibliography is divided into three sections. The first section, which is subdivided into two parts, contains monographs on youth gang and girl-only gangs. The second section provides popular and scholarly articles. The final section covers newspaper articles. 3 MONOGRAPHS Selected Monographs on Youth Gang Bernstein, S. Youth on the Streets. New York: Association Press, 1964. Bloch, H. A., and A. Niederhoffer.
