A directory of public libraries and branches is included. Summary statistics for the state public libraries are listed in chart form, with 10 illustrative figures, 13 analytical tables, and 5 figural maps of state libraries. Part IV of this report lists the public libraries by system in a 20-page chart. In Part V, libraries are listed individually in a 194-page table. A listing by county (23 pages, Part VI) completes the breakdown. Characteristics of interest for the Texas libraries are expenditures, income, the size of the library collection, local services and circulation, staffing data, and information about facilities. Three appendixes list library board chairpersons, presidents of Friends of the Library organizations, and the 1991 annual report form and instructions. An index is provided.
