TheState Parkand local businessescould benefitfrom increasedvisitation andtouristexpenditures. Road dustabatementandthe eliminationof"washboards"wouldberealizedtoensureasaferroadandprotectionofthe resource. 11/93 . Thisproposalisintendedasacost-sharingroadimprovementprojectatLonePineStatePark basedontheattachedmeasurementsandfigures. FlatheadCountywouldsupplyalllabor, equipmentandasphalttopaveall28,430squarefeetofparkinteriorroadsandparkingand overlaythe128,480squarefeetofroadtothepark. TheDepartmentwouldreimbursethe countyforthecostoftheasphalt. Withcurrenttrendsin healthandexercise,thenumberandtypesofrecreationalusersat LonePineisincreasing. AsthesceneryandpopularityofLonePineattractsmoreusers,the dustygravel roadneedsto beupgradedtomeetsafetystandardsanddustabatementto ensureitssafeuse. Localbicyclerentalsofmountainbikestovisitorsaswellaslocalsalsounderscorestheneed tomakeasaferoadtoallusers. Theproposedactionwillincludeupgradingtheinteriorpark roadsothatadditionalnumbersandtypesofuserswillnotcauseseriousimpacts. 10.
