BLUMEA 41 (1996) 7-9 Entolomareginae (Basidiomycetes, Agaricales), a new species from the Netherlands Machiel+E. Noordeloos Rijksherbarium/Hortus Botanicus,Leiden,TheNetherlands INTRODUCTION Theknowledge ofthemacrofungi (mushrooms andtoadstools) inEurope, including theNetherlands, is stillfarfrom complete. During ourstudies on this groupofor- ganisms in theNetherlandsandadjacent Belgium and Germany whilepreparing a critical identificationwork, theFloraagaricina neerlandica, a fairlylarge numberof newspecies hasbeen discovered, and alot morehas becomeknown onthe varia- bility, distributionandecology oftheabout2,000 otherspecies thatwill eventually be includedin this Flora. Inthe period 1987-1996four volumes havebeen com- pleted ofthisstandard work (Baset al., 1988, 1990,1995,1996), three are in prepa- ration, andwe hope thatearly inthetwenty-first century, the setof 10volumeswill befinished.Thepresentpaperdealswith a very strikinglittleEntolomaspecies re- cently discoveredinDiever, provinceofDrenthe, theNetherlands. Habitat—Single ingrassalong cycling path. Vernacularname—Koninginnesatijnzwam (Dutch). Note— Entolomareginae has somevery unusualfeaturesthatmakeitwell worth publishing as anewspecies, although thetypecollectionconsists ofonly two speci- mens. Itcannot benamedwiththekey intheFloraagaricinaneerlandica(Noordeloos in Bas etal., 1988)nor doesitfigure intherecent European monograph ofthegenus (Noordeloos, 1992). Macroscopically Entolomareginae isratheraberrant withits venose, decurrentlamellaeandopaque, somewhatpruinose, slightly plicate pileus, reminding ofa Delicatulaspecies. Microscopically itmustbe ranged insubgenus Nolaneaon account ofthe relatively simple pileipellis type.
