We have watched with growing admiration as you have learned, grown, and developed into young women and men ready to leave our school community to confront the challenges that await. Now more than ever, our city and this world that we share is in urgent need of your contributions, your leadership, your senses of humor, and your compassion. From the time you arrived at English, your teachers have been dedicated to preparing you for the future. They have challenged you, encouraged you, and on occasion chased you down the hallways. In response, you - the EHS class of 2020 - have demonstrated through your academic work the skills necessary to build a more equitable world. Through your athletic endeavors you have shown perseverance and commitment, and through your performing arts pursuits you have changed how EHS is viewed across the City of Boston for the better. As individuals and as a class, you will be remembered for your sense of community and empathy, your resilience, and your curiosity about the world around you. While your graduation from EHS will occur amid a public health crisis, your time as members of the EHS community will never fade from our memories. We are heartbroken to miss these last few months with you and our normal opportunities to celebrate your success and help you transition to your next chapter. As we reflect on this time in which much of the world has been ordered to stay in our homes, we reflect on what it means to be “home”. It is my deep hope that over these last four years, English High School has felt like a home for you and that the love, support, and pride that you have felt from each other, and from teachers, deans, coaches, and support staff will sustain you as you move on to your next adventure. No matter the challenges or hurdles you face in life, please know that you will always have a home at English High. Whether you are reading this the night you have received it or years later after you find this yearbook in your attic, do not ever forget the gratitude those of us at EHS feel for having gotten to know you. From your first day of school with us until your final online class, you have been an inspiration to your teachers and me. EHS is a better school because of the class of 2020, and we will never forget you. Please do not forget us, and please keep in touch.
