A lot depends on what she makes of herself and what she becomes. A woman is a huge asset when she is self-dependent and possesses the awareness and choice of being interdependent. She isa liability when she is neither educated nor financially independent and, worse, when she is psychologically dependent on others for her physical well-being. In such a situation she is truly enslaved. And we have millions of such women all over the world. These articles are “As I See” the situation. They are each the result of an observation, experience, feeling, and learning. At the same time, they are also expressions of joy and concern. They are about lessons to be learnt. Wishing you the very best in the times ahead. 7 of 188 8 of 188 Acknowledgements I am grateful to: India Vision Foundation staff: Monica Dhawan, Archana Kumar, Lata Kumari, Kundan Singh, Nanda Dass, Nobat Ram, Rajiv Kumar, Ram Prakash, Sumitra Rai, Sunil Gautam, and Tarun Rohilla for their generous support in secretarial management, articles retrieval, and technology support.
