Ancient History / Egypt Ancient history as we know it is full of voids, puzzles and conflicting the- ories. Empire of Thebes is the starting point of “Ages in Alignment,” an original- E m ly researched reconstruction, from the advent of literate civilization to the conquest of Alexander. p THE SERIES i Inspired by Velikovsky’s 1952 series “Ages in Chaos,” “Ages in Alignment” r “A A ” seeks to complete the work which he commenced, identifying the problems e GES IN LIGNMENT Velikovsky could not solve, and bringing forward a great body of evidence o VOLUME 3 f not even mentioned by Velikovsky which supports his identification of T Hatshepsut with the Queen of Sheba. h Velikovsky was rejected by the academic establishment because of a num- e ber of contradictions in the chronology he outlined. Yet Sweeney shows that b despite some gaps and incompletions, his books were brilliant works of e s scholarship with much to recommend them. For decades now various schol- ars have attempted to solve the enigma. Yet the answer was stunningly sim- o ple, and in front of us all the time. r Empire of Thebes provides the solution and finally allows the possibility of a A complete and satisfactory reconstruction of ancient history. This work calls g for a much more radical shortening of ancient chronology and asserts that e s Velikovsky ran into a dead end because he placed too much reliance on the I Empire of Thebes Bible as a chronological measuring rod. n Finally, the end of the 18th Dynasty was the focus of one of Velikovsky’s C most fascinating books but he left the story of the demise of Akhnaton’s line h unfinished. This period is examined in detail in Empire of Thebes, and the a or author shows which foreign power it was who came to the assistance of o s Tutankhamun’s brother Smenkhare after the latter had been expelled from R Egypt. Other periods are covered in three other e Ages In Chaos Revisited v volumes, namely The Genesis of Israel and Egypt, i s The Pyramid Age and Ramessides, Medes and i t Persians. All of these books reach fairly dramat- e ic conclusions, but — although it’s not first in d line, chronologically — the Empire of Thebes is where the story begins. * Emmet Sweeney holds a Masters Degree in E m Early Modern History from the University of m Ulster and is currently a lecturer at West e University, Timisoara, Romania. t Emmet Sweeney S w e e n Algora Publishing e y Algora Algora 6.00 x 9.00 6.00 x 9.00 .476 E T MPIRE OF HEBES or Ages In Chaos Revisited From the series Ages in Alignment E T MPIRE OF HEBES or Ages In Chaos Revisited Emmet Sweeney Algora Publishing New York © 2006 by Algora Publishing.
