Established in 2001, RSET is a premier professional institution striving for holistic excellence in education to mould young, vibrant engineers. ICECCS 2012 was a three-day conference that provided an opportunity to bring together students, researchers and practitioners from both academia and industry. ICECCSwas focused on “InformationRevolution ThroughGreen and Eco-friendly Computing” and this theme was particularly relevant considering the fact thatthe conferencewas heldin Cochin,a city inthe EvergreenState of Kerala,India.Thisconferenceprovidedaforumforsharinginsights, experiences and interaction on various aspects of evolving technologies and patterns related to computer science, information technology and electronics, and it was a plat- form not only for researchers from Asia but also from other continents across the globe, making this conference more international and attractive for partici- pants.ICECCS2012received133researchpapersfromdifferentcountriesinclud- ing Canada, France, Germany, India, Kuwait, Singapore, South Africa, Spain, and the UK. This clearly reflects the truly international stature of ICECCS. All papers were rigorously reviewed internationally by an expert technical re- view committee. The committee selected 50papers (acceptancerate:37.5%)for presentation at the conference. We would like to thank the authors for having revised their papers to address the comments and suggestions of the referees. The ICECCS 2012 conference program also included two workshops: the Inter- nationalWorkshoponMathematicalModelingandScientificComputing(IWMS 2012)andtheInternationalWorkshoponGreenEnergyTechnologies(IWGET). We owe thanks to all workshop organizers and members of the Program Committee for their diligent work, which ensured a very high quality. Theestablishmentofanewconferencewithuniqueapproachesandstrengths reaching out globally to the technical community no doubt requires strong ded- ication, effective mindshare and good-old hard work from many volunteers. We wouldliketo thank the SteeringCommittee andthe entireOrganizingCommit- tee, for putting together a fantastic technical program. We also note the effort by our Publicity Chairs, the Publication Chair, and the Local Arrangements Chair. We received strong support from ONGC and KCSCTE. We are thank- fulforthehelpandfriendshipofseveralcolleaguesinacademiaandindustrywho VI Preface volunteered to deliver a workshop or plenary talk despite many challenges. We would like to thank Springer for the fruitful collaboration during the prepara- tion of the proceedings. The proceedings of ICECCS 2012 are organized in a single CCIS volume. We hope that the ICECCS 2012 proceedings will serve as an important intellectual resource for computing and communication systems researchers, pushing forward the boundaries of these two fields and enabling better collaboration and exchange of ideas.
