PINEO Jacques^ Pineo (cl667-1747) was a Waldensian or Huguenot who fled from Lyons, France, to England in 1688; soon returned to Lyons, but fled France again in 1690 to Plymouth, Massachusetts; and settled by 1706 at Lebanon, Connecticut. His son Peter^ Pineo m Elizabeth^ Sampson, descendant of several 1620 Mayflower passengers, and took the family to Cornwallis, Nova Scotia, in 1763. Their son Jonathan^ Pineo brought the family to Machias in 1770, and 5 of Jonathan’s sons were among the first settlers at Deblois {Plantation #17, Middle Division}, although 4 of them later moved away.
