Hinds Community College means many things to many people. Some people may think mainly of its excellent academic courses while others may be inclined to reflect on its many organizations and honoraries. The friends people make may be one ofthe highlights, yet the many campus activities, such as Mississippi and the Arts Week or the Miss Hinds pageant, are great opportunities for students to meet and mingle. Hie academic programs range from accounting to zoology. Hinds also offets vocational and technical programs for students. All of these programs are designed to prepare a stiiHent for a specialized field. Hinds offers Associate Degrees, and some students go on to universities to further their education. The "Tradition of Excellence'' is seen in the eyes of these students as they succeed in life due to their education. OPENING INVOLVEMENT "ThrougB. the years Hinds has maintained its "Tradition of Excellence" by providing the student body with honoraries and organizations that suit each student. There are or- K ganizations for the service oriented student, such as Circle and Hinds Connection: for Ldents with musical talents, such as band, choir, Clefs, and Madrigals; and also for those students interested in religions, such as the Baptist Student Union and the Catholic Student Organization. These few organizations plus many more are provided to meet the demands of the student body. Students who get involved in the activities they enjoy can become better rounded people.
