The Wildcat football team makes its festive grand entrance during the Homecoming battle against the Highland Trojans. Space. . . The Final Frontier The voyages of the Hammond High Wildcat Varsity football team brought Hammond High undefeated into Homecoming Week 1994. After defeating Gavit, Clark, and Griffith, the Cats were ready to take on the High- land Trojans. The festivities began on Monday with Class Colors Day. The intercom blared, “Tuesday is Kiddie Day, so let your mommy dress you!” The halls were filled with hippie chicks and daddy-os on Wednesday for Hippie Day. Thursday was a celebration of space and students dressed according to their class themes. After school the main hallways were transformed into a space odyssey. Finally the big day arrived. The gym was alive with the sight of homemade banners and the sound of noisemakers as the students watched senior Dave Cline being set-up for a game of Simon Says during the pep assembly. After school, the annual Homecoming parade took place. It was the largest parade in the history of Hammond High School. That night, among the cheers of an enthusiastic crowd and the music of the band, the Queen was crowned and the Wildcats pulled off a vic- tory.
