Tests were started in 1959 to evaluate drying methods for field shelled corn. This work showed that corn was damaged for use by refiners when the corn reached the corn after tempering periods of 2, 4, 8, and 12 hours. to about 45°F. No wet corn was stored more than one week before drying.
