PREFACE

It gives us great pleasure to submit the Re-accreditation report (SSR)
of our College to the National Assessment and Accreditation Council
(NAAC) for Re-accreditation.
Our College is located in rural, hilly area and deprived of many new
facilities. It was a challenging task for us to respond to the latest questionnaire
under various criteria formulated by NAAC. No doubt, we have made efforts
to evaluate our-selves sincerely. While preparing the Report as per the
guidelines laid down by NAAC, we have concentrated on our strength and
weaknesses.
This SSR would not have been possible to prepare without support of
several Departments of this Institution. I thank principal Dr.Dhanaji Gurav for
his constructive comments, help and guidance. I also thank all HOD’s,
Teaching and Non-Teaching staff.
It is our sincere belief that getting Re-accreditation from NAAC would
be helpful for self learning and improvement. If reaccredited by NAAC, it
would be another feather to our crown and an honour to our Institution.

PRINCIPAL’S MESSAGE

Mahad is the Taluka place in Kolaba District (Present-Raigad). It is
situated on the bank of the Savitri and Gandhari river near the Raigad Fort
which was the capital place of Chh. Shivaji Maharaj, who was the great
Maratha King.
The Institution was started in mofussil area with 66 students in 1961
and at present, we have (UG & PG) 2306 students in Senior Wing. We have
Junior Wing with MCVC & the strength of this wing is 2082 students.
This Institution was founded on 20th June 1961. It is a memorial
Institution under the control of People’s Education Society, Mumbai. It was
founded by Bharatratna Dr.Babasaheb Ambedkar who had launched the
historical Chavdar Tale Water Satyagraha in 1927 in Mahad (Dist. Kolaba), to
establish the equality and fraternity among human beings.
The academic year 2010-11 was the Golden Jubilee year of this
Institution . We are proud and thrilled with the memories of the day when this
Institution was opened in the year 1961 by the People’s Education Society,
Mumbai.
We have dedicated ourselves to spread higher education on a large
scale for poor and backward classes and particularly to the girl students and
also to all sections of Society in Konkan.
"People's Education Society's objective is not merely to give
education, but to give education in such a manner as to promote intellectual,
moral and social democracy. This is what modern India needs and this is what
all well wisher of India must promote."
Our Institution has been selected for “Community College” among
650 Institutions of the University of Mumbai.
We are striving hard for the enhancement of quality & excellence in
Higher Education. We have to achieve so much more things for the
development of this Institution . Therefore, it is our honest belief that getting
Re-accreditation from NAAC would be helpful for self-learning and
improvement. It is a matter of pride and honour to be Re-accredited by
NAAC.
I sincerely thank to my Management, Teaching & Non-Teaching
Staff, Alumni, Parents, Students & Well-wishers who helped us a lot for the
progress of this Institution.
